SAP EWM has been deployed as embedded EWM (also known as SAP S/4HANA Supply Chain Management) available since the 1610 release. With embedded EWM, inbound and outbound processes, Process-Oriented Storage Control (POSC), Layout Oriented Storage Control (LOSC), and Handling Unit Management (HUM) are part of the standard SAP S/4 HANA license.
A decentralized EWM deployment option is helpful for businesses with large volumes of data and transactions. It makes managing multiple warehouses easier and gives a better ability to support automatic warehouses. Even if the ERP system is down, the EWM system is operational.
